Normal Paraffin Oil (N-Paraffin)

Normal Paraffin Oil (N-Paraffin)

Normal Paraffin Oil (also called N-Paraffin) is a clear, colorless, odorless liquid hydrocarbon mixture, typically consisting of straight-chain alkanes (C10–C13 / C10–C14 range). It is derived from kerosene through solvent extraction and molecular sieve processes. N-Paraffins are used as raw materials for producing Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) and as solvents, plasticizers, and processing oils in various industries.

Uses and Applications

  • LAB Production: Over 80% of N-Paraffin is used as a feedstock for producing Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB), which is then sulfonated into surfactants like LABSA.
  • Solvent & Carrier: Employed in paints, resins, printing inks, adhesives, and polymer processing.
  • Lubricants & Metalworking: Used in cutting oils, metalworking fluids, aluminum rolling oils, and as lubricant base components. Plasticizer & Fatty Alcohol Production: Serves as a precursor in the creation of plasticizers and fatty alcohols.
  • Light Industry: Utilized in lamp oils, wax blends, BBQ starters, adhesives, and cosmetic creams/lotions.
  • Cosmetics & Skin Care: Used as an emollient and moisturizing agent in skincare and personal care formulations.
